Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas

(Read December 12th, 2012)

Synopsis:

Emily Vargas has been taken captive. As part of his conditioning methods, her captor refuses to speak to her, knowing how much she craves human contact. He's far too beautiful to be a monster. Combined with his lack of violence toward her, this has her walking a fine line at the edge of sanity. Told in the first person from Emily's perspective, Comfort Food explores what happens when all expectations of pleasure and pain are turned upside down, as whips become comfort and chicken soup becomes punishment.

DISCLAIMER:
This is not a story about consensual BDSM. This is a story about "actual" slavery. If reading an erotic story without safewords makes you uncomfortable, this is not the book for you. This is a work of fiction, and the author does not endorse or condone any behavior done to another human being without their consent.

4 Fucked-Up Stars!

First of all I'd like to quote K.Thomas.

from "About the Author"..

" <...> She(Author) believes there is no topic too taboo to write about and that fiction isn't meant to teach morality. If you haven't developed morals by the time you start reading erotica, it's probably too late. "

****** Amen to that! ******

My thought's about the book

First off all it is very well written and well researched. I was captivated by the story from the beginning. Not knowing what will happen if anything.

So the heroine Emily Vargas did good for herself. Wrote few self-help books and was touring with one of them and stuff like that. Basically Oprah would have been proud of her. Then suddenly after one of her speaking engagements she was taken captive.
That's when the real fun begins.

'My mind was going down trails I wished it wouldn't. His soul was ugly, but physically, he was beautiful. I could give in to that. I could let that touch me without felling the need to vomit. And I wouldn't be blamed for it. I was the victim here.'

I actually was thinking there would be more violence.
But despite things that she had to endure in to "please" her captor there was almost none. None that was spilled on paper anyway.
But the biggest violation was with her mind. What happened in this book I'd describe as a total mental rape.
Stripping persons identity so thoroughly and completely that the person would willingly do unimaginable things.

"No ... Please don't leave me. I'll be your whore. I'll be whatever you want, please." ..<..> He turned and smiled at me, the smile of victory.

I actually searched for some pictures to spice up my review a bit, but what I've found made me sick.
Have you ever wonder how many women all over the word is held captive against their will for sex slavery? All the people that don't have rights to consent or not 'bout anything. Not where they sleep, what they eat and much much worst things.
What I'm trying to say is that I'm all up for kinky fuckery or whatever helps you get off, but it has to be consensual.

By the end of the book I've gone through a lot a feelings. Anger, pity, horror, disbelieve, hope. And I was clinging on hope the most. I didn't help. So once again I want to remind you that it is not a romance. No knight in shining armor will arrive and save the day.
But it's a good book, challenging - but good nonetheless.
So please read and enjoy!

'What we is fucked up and twisted, but it server a need.'

'His touch was like heroin in my veins, and I was a grateful addict.'

-------

3,5 stars!

Very, very HOT read. Lots of sensuality and sex

So.
I liked it. Didn't loved it, but it was OK.

Why just ok? Well, I need more story line, more actions not just porn for your imagination.
Although I can not say that I haven't enjoyed it very much. I did!

And what I hated the most was "the dirty-talk". 90% of it I was just rolling my eyes or face palming, sometimes eve laughing out laud, cause really.... What normal person can be 110 percent in to the lust mode doing "acrobatics" and at the same time make full, correct sentences of a dirty-talk????

In the beginning it was funny at how unnatural it all sounded, in the end it was just annoying .

I'm sorry but I can't imagine a man inside me, at the intense moment of doing .. that, and then he'd stop (while still inside me) and begin explaining how he feels right now, in full 5 or maybe even 7 sentences. (???)

I guess the ending was fine... A bit too sweet for me, too naive for my taste. I like HEA.. but this was just so...*eye-roll*

-----------

4 Stars!

I really enjoyed the story and how it was written.

I loved the Idea of two young people struggling with life.
I def loved the "slamming". I'd love to go on a "slam". Sadly we don't have such things here, well at least I think we don't.

Although It's a sad story.. about life and death (emphasize on LIFE :)) ) but it had happy ending!

And this book really made me stop and think about everything... How grateful I am of what I have.
This book made me cry more then once.. and it's ok. cause now I appreciate even MORE what I HAVE!

Thank You Colleen for this journey. I got Schooled by this book, big time!

My fav slam...

"BLUE SWEATER

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Do you hear that?

That's the sound of my heart beating...

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Do you hear that? That's the sound of your heart beating.

It was the first day of October. I was wearing my blue sweater, you know the one I bought atDillard’s? The one with a double knitted hem and holes in the ends of the sleeves that Icould poke my thumbs through when it was cold but I didn't feel like wearing gloves? It was thesame sweater you said made my eyes look like reflections of the stars on the ocean.

You promised to love me forever that night...

and boy

did you

ever!

It was the first day of December this time. I was wearing my blue sweater, you know the one I bought at Dillard’s? The one with a double knitted hem and holes in the ends of the sleeves that I could poke my thumbs through when it was cold but I didn't feel like wearing gloves? It was the same sweater you said made my eyes look like reflections of the stars on the ocean

I told you I was three weeks late

You said it was fate.

You promised to love me forever that night...

and boy

did you

ever!

It was the first day of May. I was wearing my blue sweater, although this time the double stitched hem was worn
and the strength of each thread tested as they were pulled tight against my growing belly. You know the one. The same one I bought at Dillard’s? The one with holes in the ends of the
sleeves that I could poke my thumbs through when it was cold
but I didn't feel like wearing gloves? It was the same sweater
you said made my eyes look like reflections of the stars on the
ocean.

The SAME sweater you RIPPED off of my body as
you shoved me to the floor,

calling me a whore ,

telling me

you didn't love me

anymore.

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Do you hear that? That's the sound of my heart beating.

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Bom Bom...

Do you hear that? That's the sound of your heart
beating.

(There is a long silence as she clasps her hands to her stomach, tears streaming down her face)

Do you hear that? Of course you don't. That's the silence
of my womb.

Because you

RIPPED

OFF

3,9 Stars!

Why not 4?
Well it's not because I haven't enjoyed this book, cause I totally did!
It maybe was just a little bit to good to be true, if you know what I mean.. :))

Short version of this book:

Aly and Marco known each other for years. He's her friend and A savior and she totally dig him.
She is Marcos best friends Brady's little sister, and that puts her off-limits by some guy-best-friends code rule 101, which I'm not familiar with. In anyway, when she come to town the spark between them is there, they both want each other, but, like always, there's some stuff in their way to happiness. Oh, and did I mention that he's ex-army Special Forces? yeah.. so he's messed up, thinks, she wont get him. And all she want is to eat him up!

My thoughts:

So basically I devoured this book, if not for lack of sleep and a big need for it the devouring process would have been even faster :)
It's a really hot story, lots of sexual tension between those too which I love btw! And it was an easy read actually, and it's not a bad thing. I feel refreshed after this book, it had a great ending. Probably most of the worlds woman population dreamed at some point of an ending, or better to say, of a beginning of a new life, like this. HEA rocks!

So please enjoy this book like I've did! And I'm already excited to read next of the Hero series!

Ciao!

5 HUGE Stars!

No spoilers

First of all... This book broke my heart.. It really did! But by the end J.A.Redmerski was capable to put it back together.

And before I say more, I just want to share a song, that was in my head throughout this all book.

I know that Cam and Andrew would probably not be happy 'bout my pick, but I just feel this song is appropriate somehow for this book. And I really want to share that.

The Song:

Short version of the book:

So the story start with a girl, a broken one. She's gone through some horrible things in her life already, and she's only 20. It's hard for her to adapt in this life.

She's dreaming of world-travel and feels like nobody gets her.
So one day she just does it. Gets up, trow some necessary's  in her bag and leaves... She don't know where's she going, and basically she don't even cares.
And that's when all the fun begins!

My thoughts:

I don't wanna spoil you all that went on, so I wont! Cause this book...!!!! You need to read it and breath it in! It was such a beautiful, although a little heartbroken story. The pain, and the joy, the love.. all that they went through, I felt it in my bones. I cried when they did, I laughed when they laughed. And although I got the flu, and both of my girls are sick too, I stayed late in the night, as much as possible, read when I could, just to finally get to the end. I was so scared of the ending.. And when I couldn't read,( cause of the two sick kids... well, you can only imagine the fun lol) I thought about Cam and Andrew almost all the time, and Rihanna - Diamonds lyrics playing in my mind.

Even now, it's still so fresh, that remember this book, especially some parts of it makes me wanna cry like mo'fo.

I wanna thank to the Author for this amazing journey! I know that I say this a lot, but I only say it when I really mean it!

I needed something more!!!

I'm gonna speak my mind so there maybe spoilers involved - Beware!

Why oh why is she soo fecking young and soo fecking dumb sometimes?

I know what KMM is doing, she wants us to have like 1000 questions and like 0 answers, so we would want to read the next and the next book.

But I was frustrated... If she doesn't get "the look" someone "gave" her. How can we??? We read this from her POV, so she either need to grow up and be an adult, which she hates so viciously or I'll stop reading this series..

I get that she has to make some stupid decisions to figure a lot. Nobody grew up over night. But oh man I wish she would. Cause it would be way more interesting if she would finally be "the woman" Ryo thinks she'll be.

And speaking of a Devil...
WTF??? Ryodan and Jo???? Jo????? Seriously?
I was sooo furious with him!
He's like waiting for our Mega to grow up and stuff, and then suddenly he's boiking Jo!
And Dani don't even realize she's fecking jealous! How stupid can she be??

What I Liked the most in this book:

When Dani punched Ryo in the nose out of nowhere! LOOOOOOOOOOL
I was laughing soo hard I couldn't breathe!

People I really liked in this book:

Dancer
and
Lor <-- he's hilarious!
